Overview
National retail outlets are recruiting 200 General Assistants to deliver excellent in-store customer service, maintain merchandising standards, ensure accurate shelf price labelling, and keep trading areas clean, safe, and easy to shop. These roles are open to external applicants only and are suitable for first-time job seekers—no experience required.
Key Responsibilities
–Customer Service: Advise customers on products; resolve basic queries and escalate complaints appropriately.
–Merchandising Standards: Merchandise bulk and shelf stock safely to the store layout/planograms; replenish stock timeously.
–Housekeeping: Keep aisles clear and work areas hazard-free; label shelves accurately; complete canteen and toilet/shower checklists when on duty.
–Safety (OHSA): Use required PPE; ensure racking/bulk stock is secured; report hazards and incidents; support a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
–Stock Loss Control: Identify and report damaged/expired/incorrectly priced stock to the Store Manager; follow store processes to reduce shrink.
–General Support: Execute duties aligned to store SOPs; assist with additional tasks when required to support trading operations.
Requirements & Skills
–Minimum: Grade 10 / NQF 3, no experience required, or
-Grade 12 (Matric) with or without experience.
–Right to Work: Valid South African ID or valid work permit.
–Communication: Able to communicate in English and the predominant local language of the area.
–Numeracy: Able to perform basic calculations accurately.
–Availability: Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays; able to work under pressure and meet pace/quality targets.
