Job Overview:

African Bank is seeking a driven and service-oriented Sales Consultant to join the team at our Ilanga Mall Branch in Nelspruit. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving customer growth, revenue generation, and delivering outstanding service in alignment with the bank’s strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales Focus

-Achieve sales, customer acquisition, and collections targets.

-Drive product sales, including cross-selling, upselling, and capital take-up.

-Convert leads from inbound calls, outbound campaigns, and referrals.

-Conduct professional financial needs analyses.

-Track sales pipeline and client interactions consistently.

-Manage product fulfillment processes, including credit card and cash services.

2. Marketing Focus

  • Identify local marketing opportunities and referral channels.
  • Support promotional activities and participate in community engagement events.
  • Keep updated on competitors, products, and services to improve outreach.

3. Risk & Compliance Focus

-Ensure all product applications meet deal quality standards.

-Follow all fraud detection and anti-money laundering protocols.

-Maintain full compliance with regulatory and internal bank policies.

-Uphold a “zero defect” approach in income/expense capturing and deal quality.

4. Customer Service

-Provide excellent customer service in line with Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.

-Resolve queries efficiently while maintaining application turnaround times.

-Engage with clients to fully understand and meet their financial needs.

5. Training & Development

  • Participate in all required training, including risk, compliance, sales, and service development.
  • Complete ongoing training linked to personal development and compliance obligations.

6. Operational Activities

  • Adhere to all safety, security, and branch SOPs including opening and closing procedures.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required by management.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • NQF Level 4 qualification (Recognised FSB Qualification)

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in sales and client service
  • Full representation in all product categories

Skills:

  • Accuracy and speed
  • Strong administrative abilities
  • Excellent client focus and selling skills

Nature of the Role:

This position involves actively promoting and selling African Bank’s wide range of financial products through responsible sales activities. You will be required to source and develop new sales leads via internal campaigns and personal referrals.
