Overview:
The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA) is recruiting 4 General Assistants (Food Service Aid) to support food preparation and kitchen operations at departmental agricultural training institutions. The ideal candidates will assist in maintaining hygienic food service environments and ensuring timely meal service to students and staff.

Requirements:
- Grade 10 / ABET or equivalent (as recognized by SAQA)
- Experience in food service or kitchen operations is advantageous
- Willingness to work shifts and weekends
Skills and Competencies:
- Basic understanding of food preparation and hygiene standards
- Physical fitness and stamina for kitchen tasks
- Teamwork and ability to follow instructions
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, kitchen equipment, and serving procedures
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with food preparation and meal service
- Clean kitchen areas, dining halls, utensils, and equipment
- Ensure hygiene and sanitation in all food handling areas
- Assist with unpacking and storing food supplies
- Follow prescribed cleaning and safety protocols
- Perform additional kitchen or facility support tasks as assigned
