Overview

Pick n Pay is hiring over 20 dependable and detail-oriented Shelfpackers – Perishables to support the fresh and chilled goods departments across our stores nationwide. This role ensures that perishable items are safely handled, well-stocked, and displayed in accordance with cold chain and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

-Replenish shelves with perishable items (dairy, chilled foods, etc.)

-Ensure cold chain is maintained at all times and temperature checks are conducted

-Rotate stock (FIFO) and remove expired, damaged, or spoiled products

-Maintain clean, organised, and sanitised shelves, fridges, and storage areas

-Monitor product quality and report stock issues to supervisors

-Verify product pricing and promotional signage

-Assist customers with product queries and provide excellent service

-Prevent shrinkage, wastage, and damage through proper handling

-Comply with hygiene, safety, and food handling procedures

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 (Grade 12 advantageous)
  • Basic numeracy and literacy
  • Willing and able to work in chilled environments
  • Able to lift and handle perishable stock safely
  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Understanding of hygiene and cold chain practices (advantageous)
