Overview
Pick n Pay is seeking to appoint over 20 friendly and dependable General Workers to join our Deli Departments across stores nationwide. This role supports the preparation, display, and sale of freshly prepared foods in a high-traffic, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
-Assist with preparing and portioning hot and cold deli foods
-Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the deli area, including equipment and utensils
-Refill and rotate deli displays, ensuring freshness and compliance with FIFO principles
-Operate deli equipment (e.g., slicers, warmers) in line with safety standards
-Label, package, and store food items appropriately
-Comply with cold chain, food safety, and health regulations
-Assist customers with enquiries and product selection
-Report any food quality or safety issues to the supervisor
-Minimise shrinkage, waste, and product damage through careful handling
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 (Grade 12 advantageous)
- Willingness to work in food prep areas and handle prepared meals
- Able to stand for long periods and work in warm environments
- Retail or food service experience is an advantage
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
