Overview

The Mr Price Foundation’s JumpStart Programme 2025 is now open for applications. This SETA-accredited, work-readiness initiative helps unemployed South African youth gain retail skills, practical work experience, and improved employability. Since its inception, JumpStart has trained over 57,000 candidates, with more than half securing jobs in the retail industry.

Through the Retail Frontline Programme (RFP) and the Professional Retail Programme (PRP), participants are prepared for entry-level and professional roles at Mr Price Group (Mr Price, Mr Price Home, Mr Price Sport, Miladys, Sheet Street) and retail partners such as SPAR.

Programme Highlights

• Retail Frontline Programme (RFP): A 2-week training programme for Matriculants, including life skills, retail skills, and 1 week of in-store experience.
• Professional Retail Programme (PRP): An 8-month graduate internship offering advanced training, 5 months of real-world work experience, and a monthly stipend.
• Skills Development: Customer service, merchandising, store operations, teamwork, and business operations.
• Career Growth: While jobs are not guaranteed, many graduates are employed within Mr Price Group or retail partners.

Who Can Apply?

Retail Frontline Programme (RFP):

• South African citizen, aged 18–33
• Matric (Grade 12 / NQF 4)
• Unemployed and not studying full-time
• No criminal record
• Passionate about retail and customer service

Professional Retail Programme (PRP):

• South African citizen, aged 18–35
• Diploma or degree (or final-year student) in Business, Retail Management, Fashion Design, Clothing Management, Graphic Design, Operations Management, or related fields
• Unemployed and not part of another internship
• Based in, or able to relocate to, Durban (PRP training hub)

General Requirements

• Access to smartphone or laptop and 200MB data for online components
• Commitment to completing the full programme
• Certified copies of ID and qualifications (not older than 3 months)
• Willingness to attend training in major centres
