Overview

Government Administration Clerks ensure efficient, compliant admin across finance, supply chain, property, and programme support. Roles include procurement support, budgeting inputs, records management, correspondence control, and stakeholder communication in line with applicable prescripts and Batho Pele principles.

Key Responsibilities (apply to all posts)

-Procurement support: source written quotes, prepare requisitions, confirm funds and approvals.

-Budget & finance admin: route documents to budgeting systems; support commitment of expenditure.

-Records & registers: maintain VA/registers, supplier details, order numbers, and audit trails.

-Order processing: submit documents to stores to generate orders; retain copies for reference.

-Correspondence & filing: register incoming/outgoing mail; maintain orderly files and electronic folders.

-Stakeholder communication: liaise with end-users, suppliers and internal units; ensure documentation integrity.

-Reporting & compliance: compile routine stats/returns; apply relevant legislation and departmental policies.

Requirements & Skills (apply to all posts)

-National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).

-Basic knowledge of government administration processes and records management.

-Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook; MS Office Suite).

-Good verbal/written communication; basic report writing; attention to detail and accuracy.

-Knowledge of key prescripts (e.g., Constitution, Public Service Act, PAIA, LRA) and Batho Pele.

-Problem-solving, time management, and ability to work under pressure.

-Preferred: one (1) year Public Service internship experience.
