Introduction
Eskom, South Africaโs leading power utility, is offering 10 Learner Hospitality opportunities for individuals passionate about professional food service and culinary operations.
This 24-month fixed-term training contract will provide selected learners with hands-on experience under the supervision of the Executive Chef, combining practical and administrative hospitality skills in a dynamic learning environment.
The programme is based at the Eskom Academy of Learning in Midrand and aims to develop skilled hospitality professionals capable of contributing to Eskomโs high standards in catering, service delivery, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
-Prepare, cook, and present high-quality food under the supervision of qualified chefs.
-Ensure correct portioning, presentation, and hygiene standards are maintained.
-Control and monitor kitchen stock, including supplies and ingredients.
-Perform administrative duties in support of catering operations.
-Assist with implementing ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) requirements and compliance.
-Provide professional customer service in dining and catering environments.
-Uphold strict health, hygiene, and safety standards in all areas of operation.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
- National Diploma / National N Diploma in one of the following fields:
- Catering Management
- Hospitality and Catering Services
- Hotel School Qualification
- Qualification must be at NQF Level 6 (240 credits).
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 yearsโ practical experience working in all kitchen departments (cold, hot, pastry, and functions).
