Government Administration Clerks are essential to the smooth functioning of public service departments. They provide administrative, clerical, financial, and procurement support while ensuring compliance with government acts, prescripts and internal policies.

This role is ideal for individuals who are organised, detail-oriented and eager to grow within the public service.


๐Ÿ“ Key Responsibilities

Administration Clerks will be responsible for:

Procurement & Financial Support

  • Requesting and obtaining supplier quotes
  • Completing requisition forms
  • Submitting documents for budgeting and expenditure approval
  • Ensuring correct commitment of funds before purchases

Record-Keeping & Documentation

  • Maintaining the VA register
  • Recording supplier details, purchase requests, quotations, and order numbers
  • Submitting documents to stores for order generation
  • Retaining copies of orders and requisitions for audit purposes

Communication & Coordination

  • Faxing, emailing or submitting documentation to departments and suppliers
  • Ensuring correct flow of documents between units
  • Assisting departments with administrative queries
  • Ensuring integrity of records and proper filing

๐Ÿ“˜ Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • National Senior Certificate / NQF Level 4
  • No experience required
  • Basic understanding of government administration
  • Computer literacy (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Report-writing ability
  • Knowledge of government prescripts:
    • Public Service Act
    • Constitution
    • Labour Relations Act
    • PAIA

Preferable

  • 1 year Public Service Internship (advantageous)
