Overview
Wits Commercial Enterprise (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of the University of the Witwatersrand, is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Grant Administrator to support financial and administrative functions for a Danish-funded project: Digital Democracy Initiative โ Project 1. The role focuses on managing project administration, ensuring compliance with EU funding rules, supporting partners, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Start Date: 1 February 2026
Key Responsibilities
-Manage day-to-day administrative and financial tasks for the project
-Ensure compliance with EU funding rules, grant agreements & reporting requirements
-Track expenditure, financial forecasts & flag deviations or risks
-Handle procurement processes, supplier onboarding & payments
-Maintain accurate project documentation, contracts & financial records
-Collect and verify compliance documentation from project partners
-Assist with interim and final financial report submissions
-Liaise with partners (CIVICUS, OpenUp, CTIN)
-Support project audits, meetings, and reporting
-Provide administrative support to the Senior Project Coordinator & wider project team
Requirements & Skills
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field
- 2โ3 yearsโ experience in grant or financial administration (EU-funded project experience advantageous)
- Strong financial and budget management skills
Competencies
- Excellent organisational & detail-orientation skills
- Ability to multi-task & work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel); financial systems experience beneficial
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
