Postbank South Africa is recruiting Customer Services Clerks to support its expanding in-store and community banking operations nationwide. Purpose of the Position

The Customer Services Clerk acts as Postbankโ€™s frontline representative within partnered retail environments. The role focuses on guiding customers through assisted banking transactions, including digital and self-service options such as ATMs, mobile banking apps, and USSD services.

The position ensures all transactions are completed in line with operational policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements, including KYC and AML compliance, while delivering a consistent and respectful customer experience.

  • Salary / Stipend: Market-related (aligned with fixed-term contract roles)

This is a contract-based position and does not guarantee permanent employment.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Support

  • Welcome customers and assess their banking needs professionally
  • Assist with deposits, withdrawals, balance enquiries, redemptions, and book updates
  • Authenticate customers using approved identification and verification processes
  • Provide guidance on Postbankโ€™s digital and self-service banking platforms

Transaction Processing

  • Initiate assisted transactions using approved Postbank devices and systems
  • Generate secure barcodes or OTP slips for cash-related transactions
  • Confirm and verify transaction completion via authorised systems
  • Resolve failed transactions, expired OTPs, and basic account-related exceptions

Operational Compliance

  • Ensure all vouchers and transaction tokens follow the correct lifecycle process
  • Submit daily reconciliations and transaction reports accurately
  • Maintain clear records and escalate irregularities where required
  • Adhere strictly to data privacy, security, and anti-fraud policies

Customer Education

  • Promote self-service and digital banking solutions
  • Assist with first-time digital activations, PIN resets, and device linking
  • Support Postbankโ€™s service quality standards and turnaround times

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12) โ€“ compulsory
    Required for all banking and financial service roles.
  • NQF Level 5 or higher in Banking, Financial Services, or Customer Management (advantageous)
    Provides a strong foundation for regulated financial environments.
  • Minimum 2 yearsโ€™ customer-facing experience in banking, retail, or financial services
    Ensures confidence in handling customer queries and transactions.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    Essential for reporting and transaction processing.
  • Ability to communicate in commonly used local languages
    Supports diverse communities across South Africa.
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service orientation
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to different service locations
  • Clean criminal record (mandatory for financial roles)
