Introduction

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) invites applications from suitably qualified South African citizens for Security Officer positions at National Head Office and various Provincial Offices. The successful candidates will be responsible for access control, safeguarding personnel and assets, and ensuring compliance with all security prescripts within SAPS facilities.

• Role: Security Officer
• Remuneration Level: R 163 680 per annum

• Vetting: Mandatory (security screening, fingerprint verification, integrity assessments)

Core Functions

– Execute access control in line with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act 53 of 1985)

– Positively identify employees, visitors, contractors, and maintenance personnel

– Register, search (electronically where applicable), and issue admission control cards

– Maintain accurate visitor registers and control entry/exit of people, vehicles, and equipment

– Confirm visits with hosts and ensure escorting as per prescripts

– Inspect suppliers, articles, and objects entering premises to prevent security threats

– Guard vehicles and equipment in the field

– Patrol buildings and fenced-off areas

– Supervise cleaners and maintenance personnel from a security perspective only

– Check security equipment and facilities and take corrective action when required

– Report security deficiencies or incidents to senior security personnel

– Assist other security officers in the execution of duties

Requirements & Skills

• Minimum Grade 10 (Standard 8) / Basic Education and Training (NQF Level 3)
• Proficiency in at least two official languages (English compulsory)
• Valid PSIRA registration with Grade C security certificate or higher
• Not declared unfit to possess a firearm
• Willingness to undergo and maintain firearm competency training
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and extended hours
• No criminal record or pending cases
• Computer literacy and strong interpersonal skills (advantage)
• Degree/Diploma in Security Services, relevant courses, and a valid driver’s licence (advantage)
