Overview

FlySafair, one of South Africaโ€™s leading aviation operators, is seeking highly skilled and professional First Officers to join its Flight Deck Crew across various operational bases, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, and Lanseria. Successful candidates will ensure the safe and efficient operation of flights while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and customer service.


Key Responsibilities

Flight Operations

-Ensure the safety of flight operations in a timely and efficient manner.

-Monitor the flight path, aircraft systems, and ensure correct procedures are followed.

-Perform all checks and procedures before, during, and after each flight.

-Communicate effectively with internal departments, external service providers, and passengers.

-Assist the Captain with operational and administrative duties.

-Assume command of the aircraft in the event of the Captainโ€™s incapacitation.

-Stay updated on SACAA and international aviation regulations.

-Maintain compliance with FlySafair Operations Manual and company policies.

Pre-Flight Duties

-Review flight route, weather forecasts, and runway conditions at destination and alternate airports.

-Conduct all pre-flight checks as per the Operations Manual.

-Collaborate with the Captain to make informed decisions regarding fuel selection, alternates, and any operational restrictions.

In-Flight Duties

-Execute and monitor all normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists.

-Cross-check all flight instrument indications and immediately report any deviations or hazards to the Captain.

-Perform R/T communications when required.

Post-Flight Duties

-Complete all post-flight procedures in accordance with the Operations Manual and Flight Crew Operating Manual.

-Submit required documentation and reports (e.g., IQSMS).


Requirements & Skills

  • Minimum Qualification: Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • SACAA Commercial License (Essential).
    • SACAA ATPL (Preferred).
    • Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1500 flight hours, including 500 hours Multi-Turbine time (Essential).
    • Multi-Crew experience (Essential).
    • Type-rated on Boeing and experience on Commercial Jets over 20 Tons (Advantageous).
  • Must have detailed knowledge of SACAA, ICAO regulations, and Doc 8186.
  • Valid RSA Passport, driverโ€™s license, and own reliable transport.
  • Willingness to sign applicable training bonds, undergo psychometric assessments, and pass drug/alcohol tests.
  • No existing medical conditions or criminal record.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours on a roster.
