Overview

The Department of Home Affairs is recruiting 22 Civic Services Clerks across multiple provinces. The successful candidates will provide frontline civic services support, ensuring high-quality service delivery in line with departmental policies and Batho Pele principles.

The role focuses on identity documentation services, registrations of births, marriages and deaths, and processing of civic service applications.


Minimum Requirements

  • Undergraduate qualification at NQF Level 6 (SAQA recognised) in:
    • Public Management
    • Public Administration
    • Operations Management
    • Business Management
    • Administration
    • Law
    • Social Sciences (within specified fields)
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Public Service Regulatory Framework
    • Civic Services Regulatory Framework
    • Batho Pele Principles
    • Fraud prevention
    • The Constitution
    • Departmental regulations and prescripts
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to enquiries and perform online verification
  • Conduct fingerprint verification on HANIS
  • Verify marital status and issue service tickets
  • Provide customer orientation and information
  • Maintain high customer service standards
  • Operate front and back office pay barrier points
  • Maintain waiting areas in line with standards
  • Monitor records and case management
  • Monitor undocumented foreigners and implement relevant procedures
  • Operate live capture photo booth
  • Capture client information and biometrics
  • Process ID smart card applications and collections
  • Process registration of births, marriages and deaths
  • Process late registrations, rectifications and amendments
  • Issue citizenship documents
  • Implement departmental policies and procedures
