Overview
Table Mountain National Park is inviting applications for a Handyman to join its technical and maintenance team. The successful candidate will carry out semi-skilled maintenance tasks on infrastructure, tourist facilities, and equipment. Please note that no official accommodation is provided; the successful candidate must arrange their own accommodation.
Key Responsibilities
-Perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks, including repairs, plumbing, welding, air conditioning and refrigeration servicing, electrical works, and basic civil works.
-Carry out routine maintenance on tourist facilities, staff accommodation, ablution blocks, administration buildings, and other infrastructure such as electricity, borehole pumps, sewer systems, and equipment.
-Assist with inspections of maintenance contractorsโ work.
-Record daily maintenance tasks performed and report on maintenance needs.
-Transport equipment, materials, and staff while conducting vehicle inspections.
-Assist with planning, scheduling, and execution of technical tasks.
-Order stock and assist with supply chain processes.
-Maintain housekeeping standards and perform other ad hoc tasks identified by the supervisor.
-Support general administrative tasks, including stock and inventory records, time sheets, log sheets, leave forms, and month-end reporting.
Minimum Requirements
–Grade 12 (Matric)/NCV Level 4 or equivalent.
-Trade Certificate in Electrical, Aircon, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Carpentry or related fields is an added advantage.
–Valid driverโs licence is essential; PDP will be an added advantage.
-Minimum 3 yearsโ practical experience in a technical/maintenance field.
-Knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, and equipment repairs.
-Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
-Basic administrative skills.
-Good communication skills in English (written and verbal).
-Ability to work under pressure and in unfavourable conditions.
-Willingness to work weekends and public holidays as required.
-Candidates will be required to complete a practical assessment as part of the selection process.
