Overview

Sasol is recruiting a Miner for its Mining Operations division in Secunda.

This opportunity is suitable for experienced mining professionals with blasting certification and underground mining experience who are capable of leading teams, maintaining production targets, and ensuring health and safety compliance within mining sections.

Successful candidates will oversee mining crews, conduct inspections, manage underground mining operations, and support continuous operational improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

• National Senior Certificate with Mathematics
• Occupational Trade Certificate:
  • Blasting Certificate – Fiery Mines
• Valid RSA Driver’s License
• Minimum 4 years relevant mining experience

-Knowledge of SHE Policies, Procedures & Standards

Key Responsibilities

Mining Operations & Production

-Manage mining crews to achieve production targets

-Plan, organise, and control daily mining activities

-Manage complex underground mining operations

-Oversee pillar extraction sections where applicable

-Ensure proper use of PPE and mining tools

---

Health, Safety & Compliance

-Conduct statutory inspections and risk assessments

-Perform gas and ventilation tests

-Conduct rescue drills and fire patrols

-Ensure compliance with safety procedures and codes of practice

-Complete statutory reports and audit corrective actions

---

Team Leadership & Development

• Coach and develop operators in the section
• Identify training and development needs
• Conduct performance meetings with crew members
• Manage attendance and operator licensing records
• Ensure effective shift handovers and communication

---

Operational Administration

• Submit section reports accurately and on time
• Ensure availability of mining materials and resources
• Perform SAP inputs when acting as Shift Boss
• Represent Shift Boss during Operational Excellence meetings
