Salary: R15 115.49 per month (all-inclusive, no benefits)

Overview

The City of Johannesburg, Department of Community Development (Sports & Recreation Unit), is seeking applications for a Cashier/Cloakroom Attendant. This role focuses on managing cashier functions, monitoring entry into public swimming pools, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out cashier duties, ensuring correct fees are collected and recorded.
  • Control entry to the swimming pool, preventing entry of persons with infectious diseases or intoxicated individuals.
  • Issue season tickets and monitor patron access.
  • Perform cloakroom duties and assist with cleaning of the ticket office, change-rooms, and cloakrooms.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and customer service in line with City of Johannesburg requirements.

Requirements and Skills

  • Minimum Grade 10 school certificate.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy (ability to read, write, add, and subtract).
  • Ability to operate a cash register.
  • 3 โ€“ 6 monthsโ€™ cashier and/or cleaning experience. (Advantageous)
  • Must reside within the Johannesburg Metropolitan Area (proof of residence required).
  • Physically and mentally fit, and willing to undergo vetting checks.
  • Knowledge of cash handling, cleaning methods, and use of general cleaning chemicals.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and tolerance for stress.
