Overview
Curro Hazeldean is seeking a Bus Driver to join its support staff team. This role is vital to ensuring the safe transport of learners and staff while also providing general maintenance and support services across the school facilities. The position requires responsibility, punctuality, and commitment to maintaining a safe and disciplined environment.
Key Responsibilities
Learner Transportation
- Safely transport learners along prescribed routes and schedules.
- Pick up and drop off students at designated stops.
- Transport learners and staff for field trips, ensuring proper planning of routes.
- Maintain order and discipline among passengers.
General Worker Duties
- Perform daily checks on facilities and complete general maintenance tasks.
- Support plumbing, repairs, and report issues to the facilities manager.
- Assist with gardening, grass cutting, and upkeep of flower beds.
- Provide general support with security, access control, and traffic management.
Health and Safety
- Conduct daily safety inspections of the vehicle.
- Report mechanical issues and ensure the bus is serviced and maintained.
- Perform required safety drills and complete reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe operating condition of the bus.
Record Keeping
- Complete mileage, passenger counts, and other required reports.
Requirements & Skills
- Valid EC1 or C1 Driverโs Licence (Heavy motor vehicle up to 16,000kg) with a valid PDP.
- Grade 12 (Matric) minimum qualification.
- Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
- Prior experience in school bus driving or similar role advantageous.
- Punctual, reliable, helpful, and enthusiastic.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Must be energetic, responsible, and a team player.
- Clear criminal record.
