Overview
Phakisa Holdings (Pty) Ltd is currently seeking experienced Code 14 Drivers with a valid Professional Driver’s Permit (PDP) to operate heavy-duty trucks within the Isipingo, Merebank, Umlazi, Wentworth, and Durban Central areas. This role supports construction and engineering operations through safe and efficient transport of materials, equipment, and personnel to and from project sites.
Key Responsibilities
-Operate Code 14 trucks, transporting goods, construction materials, machinery, and personnel
-Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and roadworthiness
-Ensure loads are securely fastened and meet safety and regulatory standards
-Adhere to all road traffic laws and company transportation policies
-Maintain accurate records of fuel usage, mileage, and cargo logs
-Assist with loading and unloading of materials as needed
-Perform basic maintenance and minor vehicle repairs when required
-Deliver materials according to assigned routes and schedules
-Support setup and breakdown of construction materials and equipment at project sites
-Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck
-Collaborate with site managers and other staff to ensure operational efficiency
-Maintain a professional demeanor and a clean driving record at all times
Requirements and Qualifications
–Matric / Grade 12 certificate
–Valid Code 14 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
-Minimum of 4 years’ experience operating heavy-duty vehicles, preferably in construction or engineering sectors
-Sound knowledge of road safety regulations and logistics procedures
-Experience with transporting heavy equipment or construction machinery is advantageous
–Familiarity with local areas and routes related to construction and project sites
-Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
-Strong attention to detail and ability to manage loads safely
-Basic mechanical knowledge to perform minor troubleshooting and maintenance
-Proven ability to comply with all traffic regulations and maintain professionalism on the road
