Overview:

Joburg Child Welfare (JCW), one of South Africa’s oldest and most respected non-profit organisations, is seeking 11 qualified Child and Youth Care Workers to join the team at Othandweni FCC. With over a century of experience in protecting vulnerable children, JCW is dedicated to providing love, support, and safe spaces for abused, abandoned, orphaned, and neglected children.

Key Responsibilities:

-Arrange and monitor the education and schooling of children and youth

-Provide direct childcare and supervision

-Organise and facilitate recreational and developmental activities

-Perform administrative and support-related duties

-Ensure access to medical services for children and youth

-Engage in effective stakeholder communication and management

Minimum Requirements:

-Grade 12 / Matric Certificate

-Qualification in Child and Youth Care Work (non-negotiable)

-Registered with SACSSP

-1 to 2 years relevant experience

-Valid driver’s license

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

  • Children’s Act and other relevant legislation
  • Planning and organisation practices
  • Networking and referral systems
  • Understanding of human behaviour and social service
  • Psychosocial support and community dialogues

Skills:

  • Clerical and administrative proficiency
  • Communication and conflict resolution
  • Development and care programme implementation
  • Accurate report writing
  • Strong planning and time management abilities
