Overview:
An opportunity has arisen at the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) for dedicated and professional Drivers to join the Distribution team based in Durban North. The successful candidates will be responsible for the timeous, effective, and cost-efficient transportation of goods and passengers while maintaining a professional image and adhering to SANBS policies and road regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Trip Procedures:
-Conduct vehicle checks using the Vehicle Inspection Checklist.
-Report irregularities to the Dispatch Controller before departure.
-Collect trip instruction sheets and ensure readiness of delivery materials.
-Accurately log odometer readings and fuel levels; refuel if necessary.
2. Transportation of Goods:
-Complete trip sheets, adhere to delivery instructions, and follow approved routes.
-Ensure safe and professional delivery of goods with signed confirmation from recipients.
-Return completed documentation and keys to Dispatch Controller after each trip.
-Maintain compliance with SANBS regulations and the National Road Traffic Act.
3. Transportation of Passengers (where applicable):
-Collect transport requests and confirm details prior to trip.
-Welcome passengers professionally and assist them at the destination if needed.
-Display SANBS signage when receiving airport arrivals and complete customer service forms.
4. Administrative and Support Duties:
- Perform general support duties such as cleaning vehicles, answering calls, and ad hoc transport tasks.
- Report accidents promptly and assist with incident documentation.
- (For Technical Drivers in Zones) Assist in clinic preparation and handling of hampers when required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 9 (Essential); Grade 12 (Preferred)
- License: Valid Code C1 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ professional driving experience
- Language: Fluency in English
- Additional Training (Preferred): Advanced Driving Course
