Overview:
AECI Mining is seeking to appoint 13 Plant Operators on a fixed-term contract basis at its Modderfontein operations. The successful candidates will be responsible for the precise assembly of various initiating system products used in mining applications. This position is suited for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude and previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble initiating system products including shocktube assemblies, surface assemblies, electronics assemblies, and export detonators.
- Carry out detailed component assembly tasks such as detonator platting, rubber sleeve insertion, tagging, printing, and sealing of product packaging.
- Operate various machinery including:
- Coiling machines
- Electronic assembly machines
- 3G Clip Machine
- Long Length Coiler
- Ultrasonic sealing machines
- Perform soldering on NETSHOCK, DIGISHOT, HOTSHOT, and SMARTSHOT wires onto EIU assemblies.
- Service raw materials and ensure accurate operation of all related machines.
- Ensure products meet quality standards and production targets as per the plan.
- Adhere strictly to SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) plant-specific rules and procedures.
- Follow operational quality parameters and contribute to achieving the plant’s quality objectives.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks including machine decontamination and cleaning procedures.
Requirements and Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or N3 Certificate
- Preferably with technical subjects (e.g., Mathematics, Science, Engineering Studies)
Experience & Skills:
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or plant operation environment
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to operate production machinery
- Familiarity with safety and environmental compliance standards
- Competency in understanding and maintaining production quality standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-precision environment
