Overview:
MB Transport, a division of Unitrans Passenger, is looking for experienced and professional Bus Drivers to join their team in Vredendal. The successful candidates will be responsible for safely transporting passengers on scheduled routes, ensuring compliance with traffic laws, maintaining vehicle standards, and delivering excellent customer service.
This role contributes significantly to the organisation by ensuring the safety and timely transportation of passengers while upholding company policies and road safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
-Operate buses safely and professionally along established routes.
-Control lighting, heating, and ventilation systems to ensure passenger comfort.
-Observe traffic laws, prescribed speed limits, and weather conditions to ensure safe travel.
-Ensure passengers reach their destinations safely and on schedule.
-Adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures.
-Conduct pre-trip inspections and report any vehicle defects or malfunctions.
-Log and report incidents, accidents, or property damage to supervisors.
-Participate in daily safety sessions (DSS) and other training sessions.
-Register passengers and ensure proper documentation of each trip.
-Keep the vehicle clean and ensure it is refueled as required.
-Complete all necessary logbooks and documentation accurately.
-Maintain a positive and professional attitude toward passengers.
-Obey signage, speed limits, and avoid unauthorized route deviations.
-Use safety equipment such as wheel chocks and seatbelts as per policy.
-Report any vehicle damage or issues immediately to the supervisor.
-Follow customer-specific policies (e.g., SMS policies) and scheduled collection times.
-Never overtake other Unitrans vehicles unless authorized or necessary for safety.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 / National Certificate
- License Categories: Code 10 or Code 14 (Public Service Driving License with PrDP required)
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a similar driving position
- Additional:
- Familiarity with Unitrans Passenger regulations, HST policies, and vehicle inspection protocols
- Defensive and preventive driving knowledge
- Good interpersonal skills and a customer-service mindset
- Ability to comply with strict safety standards and operational procedures
