Overview:
Absa Bank Botswana is looking for a strategic and influential Senior Human Capital Business Partner (SHCBP) to lead the people agenda across key business functions. This executive role is central to shaping and delivering human capital strategies that align with the bankโ€™s commercial goals, drive performance, and enhance organisational capability. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing people solutions, leading HR teams, and partnering with senior leaders to embed a high-performance culture.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a strategic enabler to assigned business units by translating business strategy into aligned and actionable people plans.
  • Lead the implementation and development of workforce optimisation and organisational development initiatives.
  • Direct and indirectly manage HR teams and specialisms across the People Function to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Support and challenge senior leaders on key people-related issues such as talent acquisition, leadership development, organisational change, employee relations, and reward strategies.
  • Drive a culture of performance by designing and executing integrated HR solutions that impact medium- to long-term business performance.
  • Champion talent management efforts across Absa, including succession planning and employee retention strategies.
  • Lead change and transformation programmes aligned to the bankโ€™s overall strategic direction.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of HR practices and improve delivery by benchmarking against industry standards.
  • Build and maintain strong internal client relationships to ensure cohesive and agile HR support across functions.
  • Provide thought leadership and innovation in the development of organisational capability and people performance.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Industrial/Organisational Psychology, Human Resources, Banking, Commerce, or a related field (required).
  • A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years of general work experience, including at least 5 years in a senior Human Capital Business Partner role.

  • Solid commercial acumen and experience in delivering people solutions that drive business performance.
  • Proven leadership in managing large teams and HR projects across complex environments.
