Job Overview:
Unitrans has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and professional Code 14 Driver to join the team under the Anchor Yeast Local contract in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting goods, operating ultra-heavy vehicles (including tankers and Superlink/Interlink combinations), and ensuring full compliance with operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicles for trips and operate ultra-heavy-duty trucks.
- Transport, load, and offload goods safely and efficiently.
- Maintain and complete all required trip documentation.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company standard operating procedures.
- Follow all instructions given by Supervisors and Fleet Controllers.
- Ensure proper housekeeping of vehicle, uniform, and PPE.
- Participate in medical assessments, training, inductions, and driving evaluations.
- Ensure vehicle is not overloaded and loads are secured.
- Engage with customers professionally during deliveries.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
- Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s license with a PrDP.
- Valid passport (for cross-border requirements).
- At least 3 years’ experience operating tankers.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles and Superlink/Interlink combinations.
- Must be 25 years of age or older.
- Knowledge of:
- Defensive driving techniques.
- Emergency and defect reporting procedures.
- Vehicle inspections and safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers).
- Vehicle loading and offloading practices.
- Medically fit and able to pass all relevant evaluations.
- Clean criminal record.
- Own reliable transport to and from work.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
