Overview:
Bergrivier Municipality is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented professional to join its Financial Services Directorate as a Principal Clerk: Income. This re-advertised post calls for individuals with a strong background in financial administration, particularly income and debtor management. Preference will be given to candidates residing within the Bergrivier Municipal area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and process creditor accounts and related financial information
- Perform clerical tasks, account updates, and reconciliations
- Maintain accurate registers and records related to creditor payments
- Carry out debtor-related functions
- Supervise cashier duties and ensure proper receipting of payments
- Participate in the Municipality’s Performance and Development Management System
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 with Accounting as a subject
- Two (2) to five (5) years of relevant financial or clerical experience
Requirements and Skills:
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Code B driver’s licence
- Attainment of Minimum Competency Levels for Municipal Financial Officials within 24 months of appointment
- Proficiency in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa – speak, read, write)
- Good interpersonal, communication, and supervisory skills
- High attention to detail and responsibility
- Physically fit and healthy
- Willingness to perform cashier duties and work overtime when required
