Overview:

The Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Centre Quality Assurance Officer I to join its team. The incumbent will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the Councilโ€™s assessment processes by conducting inspections of assessment centres, monitoring compliance with BEC standards and regulations, and supporting the implementation of assessment-related procedures and guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections to award centre status to new institutions applying to be assessment centres.
  • Undertake inspection visits (pre-exams and during exams) to monitor adherence to assessment regulations and timetables.
  • Collaborate with Security and Special Needs teams during joint inspections.
  • Verify compliance of assessment centres with BEC rules and standards.
  • Provide advice and written feedback on centre compliance to the Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Investigate incidents of non-compliance and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Issue warnings, apply sanctions, and make recommendations based on inspections.
  • Participate in the performance appraisals of outsourced assessment personnel.
  • Support implementation of policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards during periodic reviews.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation to improve quality assurance processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of a Degree in Educational Management or a relevant field from a recognised institution.
  • At least 4 years of post-qualification work experience, with 2 years at junior professional/technician level or equivalent.
