Overview:
Unitrans is seeking a high-caliber Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to transport and distribute goods for its Chemicals Division based at Central Workshop Tulisa Park. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and professional delivery of goods to various clients while adhering to safety and compliance regulations.
Responsibilities:
–Prepare vehicle for trips, ensuring it is roadworthy and in compliance with safety standards.
–Operate Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicles (Code 14/EC) to transport goods safely and efficiently.
–Load, transport, and offload goods while ensuring proper handling procedures.
–Verify and complete all required documentation, including delivery notes and trip records.
-Ensure the vehicle is not overloaded, in accordance with the National Road Traffic Act.
-Oversee or operate offloading equipment where required.
-Ensure the load is properly secured before departure.
-Open and close tarpaulins where applicable.
-Maintain regular communication with supervisors regarding deliveries and any unforeseen delays.
-Provide excellent customer service, ensuring professional interaction with clients.
-Perform routine vehicle inspections and report defects or emergencies immediately.
-Maintain housekeeping of vehicles, uniforms, and PPE to ensure professional representation.
-Adhere to and promote Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
-Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
Requirements:
–Grade 12 / Senior Certificate (Matric).
–Minimum Grade 10 literacy level (Verbal and numerical literacy).
–Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s license with a valid PrDP (DGP – Dangerous Goods Permit).
–Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicles.
–Must be 25 years of age or older.
-Knowledge of defensive driving techniques.
-Understanding of vehicle components, safety features, and emergency procedures.
-Experience in operating fire extinguishers and conducting vehicle inspections.
-Knowledge of vehicle loading and offloading techniques.
-Clean criminal record and safe driving history.
–Medically fit to perform duties.
-Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
