Overview

The City of Tshwane is inviting applications for General Worker positions across various depots and regions.

The purpose of this role is to perform a range of cleaning and general labour duties to ensure that municipal offices, bus depots, workshops and related facilities are kept clean, hygienic and safe in line with occupational health and safety standards.

This opportunity is suitable for physically fit individuals who are reliable and able to work in a team environment.


Job Purpose

To perform various cleaning tasks to keep interiors, buses, depots and municipal establishments clean and tidy according to required hygiene and safety standards.


Appointment Requirements

  • Ability to perform general cleaning and labour duties
  • Basic literacy
  • Relevant cleaning experience will be an added advantage
  • Physically fit and in good health
  • Ability to stand for long periods and walk long distances
  • Must undergo a criminal record check
  • Must allow fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of buses to required hygiene standards
  • Clean offices, depots, workshops, kitchens and ablution facilities
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, polish and dust floors, furniture and equipment
  • Remove litter and empty refuse bins
  • Maintain surrounding grounds (sweeping walkways, cutting grass, removing weeds)
  • Load, unload and move furniture or equipment when required
  • Use cleaning materials safely in line with occupational health and safety regulations
  • Perform general cleaning and labour tasks as directed by the supervisor
