Introduction

The Department of Health invites suitably qualified and committed candidates to apply for Cleaner / Household Worker Level 2 positions within the Johannesburg Health District. These positions play a critical role in ensuring clean, safe, and hygienic healthcare facilities that support quality patient care.


Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 10 (authentic school report) OR relevant NQF Level 2 OR ABET Level 4
  • Ability to read and write
  • Experience in the public service or cleaning environment will be an added advantage
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles, Patientsโ€™ Rights, and Six Ministerial Priorities
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to deliver services under pressure

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean windows, walls, carpets, floors, offices, consulting rooms, passages, and corridors
  • Dust and polish office furniture
  • Empty bins and clean toilets and all designated clinic areas
  • Change and wash linen
  • Serve tea and refreshments when required
  • Wash dishes, glasses, cutlery, and utensils
  • Operate cleaning equipment and safely use cleaning chemicals
  • Ensure safekeeping and proper handling of cleaning materials and equipment
  • Keep cleaning equipment clean, safe, and secure
  • Report any defects or faults noticed
  • Perform any other duties as instructed by the supervisor
