Overview

Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital invites applications for 14 Cleaner posts within the Cleaning Directorate. The successful candidates will deliver high-standard cleaning and hygiene services across clinical and non-clinical areas to support safe patient care and an efficient hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

-Provide cleaning services according to the work schedule using heavy-duty equipment and approved chemicals.

-Clean clinical and non-clinical areas, including bathrooms, toilets, windows, walls, doors, frames and handles.

-Perform terminal cleaning of infectious areas in line with IPC protocols.

-Strip and seal vinyl floors; scrub tiled floors; vacuum carpets; wash carpets when required.

-Remove and dispose of general waste in designated areas safely.

-Comply with Occupational Health & Safety and Infection Prevention & Control standards.

-Perform any other reasonable cleaning duties as directed by the team leader/supervisor.

-Meet the physical demands of the role when working individually and in teams.

-Be willing to rotate to different areas of the hospital.

Requirements & Skills

  • Minimum Qualification: Grade 10 / ABET Level 4 or higher
    • Original certified school report/transcript (issued within the last 6 months) must be available when requested.
  • Experience (advantageous):
    • 12 monthsโ€™ proven experience in a formal clinical or hospital environment, and/or
    • Recent EPWP experience in hospital/clinical cleaning (attach service certificate and a stamped, signed motivation from current EPWP supervisor).
  • Competencies:
    • Ability to work in a team, under pressure, and meet deadlines.
    • Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles and willingness to uphold them.
    • Preparedness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary: R138 486.00 per annum, plus benefits as per Public Service prescripts (pension, medical aid options, leave benefits, etc.).
