Introduction

SANBS is looking for a dedicated and reliable Driver to join their Transport Department in Roodepoort. The successful candidate will ensure the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of blood products, goods, and passengers, while upholding the organisationโ€™s high standards of professionalism and care.


Key Performance Areas

1. Pre-Trip Procedures

-Conduct full vehicle inspections using the official Vehicle Inspection Checklist.

-Report all irregularities to the Dispatch Controller (or Head of Inventory/Shift Supervisor in relevant zones) before leaving the premises.

-Receive and sign for Trip Instruction Sheets.

-Ensure name tags are collected and worn at all times.

-Collect products according to the Delivery Sheet, ensuring blood products are handled securely.

-Complete the Trip Sheet, including odometer readings and logbook entries.

-Check fuel levels and obtain fuel if necessary.

-Verify odometer readings printed on fuel slips.


2. Transportation of Goods

-Follow the delivery schedule strictly and complete all documentation accurately.

-Collect and deliver goods, obtaining signed proof of delivery.

-Provide professional and friendly service at all delivery points.

-Promote SANBSโ€™ professional image at all times.

-Complete closing vehicle inspections and hand over keys and documents to the Dispatch Controller.

-No unauthorised goods, passengers, or route deviations allowed.

-Complete the logbook after every trip.


3. Transportation of Passengers (Not applicable to Technical Drivers)

-Confirm passenger information and collect Transport Request forms.

-Collect petty cash for airport parking when needed.

-Display the SANBS Welcome Board at airport arrivals.

-Assist passengers with luggage, boarding, and navigating to reception if needed.

-Request the completed Customer Service Assessment Form after drop-off.

-Log all trips and adhere to passenger transport rules.


4. Administrative & Support Duties

-Perform ad hoc tasks as required by the department.

-Answer transport department calls professionally and relay messages.

-Keep vehicles clean at all times.

-Report accidents or incidents to both Dispatch Controller and SAPS within one hour and obtain a case number.

  • Technical Drivers only:
    • Assist with clinic preparation duties.
    • Unpack hampers from blood banks when needed.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 9 (minimum)
  • Grade 12 (advantageous)
  • Advanced Driver Training (advantage)

Licensing

  • Code C1 Driverโ€™s Licence
  • Valid PDP

Experience

  • Minimum 3 yearsโ€™ driving experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of professional driving standards
