Overview

Carrus Group is seeking experienced Code 14 (EC) Drivers to support operations in Milnerton, Cape Town. The role involves operating horse-and-trailer combinations for safe, on-time deliveries while upholding high standards of road safety, customer service, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a horse-and-trailer combination to complete scheduled deliveries and collections safely and timeously.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report defects and ensure vehicle roadworthiness.
  • Secure loads, manage waybills, obtain proof of delivery (POD), and complete required trip paperwork.
  • Plan routes, adhere to delivery windows, and comply with traffic legislation and company SOPs.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse, and clients; handle queries professionally.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, monitor fuel usage, and practice defensive driving and HSE compliance.
  • Assist with basic checks and minor issues on route; escalate maintenance needs promptly.

Requirements & Skills

  • Valid Code 14 (EC) Driving Licence.
  • Valid PrDP.
  • More than 3 yearsโ€™ proven experience driving horse-and-trailer combinations.
  • Clean driving record and strong knowledge of Cape Town/Western Cape routes.
  • Ability to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required.
  • Physically fit; able to strap/tarp loads and handle manual tasks safely.
  • Strong time management, route planning, and paperwork accuracy; customer-service orientation.

Remuneration

  • Market related.
