Overview
Metropolitan Lesotho, a proud subsidiary of Momentum Group (listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange), is seeking a proactive and skilled Compliance Officer. Based in Maseru, this role is ideal for a self-driven professional looking to contribute to a leading financial services provider known for its ethical standards and high-performance culture.
Role Purpose
To implement the compliance strategy aligned with the compliance monitoring plan, ensuring that the business operates within all regulatory and legal frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Process
-Execute and report on compliance activities as outlined in the Risk-Based Compliance Monitoring Plan.
-Monitor and interpret new regulatory developments, updating internal policies accordingly.
-Conduct compliance training and participate in new staff induction programmes.
-Provide legal and regulatory advice to business units.
-Assess impact of regulatory changes and support the business in maintaining compliance.
-Perform internal compliance reviews and audits; follow up on findings and implement corrective actions.
-Manage breach identification, analysis, resolution, and escalation procedures.
-Prepare and submit statutory applications to regulators or supervisory bodies.
-Assist in policy reviews and make compliance-focused recommendations.
-Deliver compliance reports and participate in business project consultations.
Client Service
-Foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
-Contribute to negotiating and maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
-Ensure client satisfaction and promote fair treatment practices.
People
-Build collaborative working relationships and offer expert compliance guidance.
-Drive continuous improvement through innovation and skill development.
-Take ownership of personal career development and contribute to organisational knowledge sharing.
Finance
-Support operational efficiency initiatives and cost-effectiveness strategies.
-Participate in developing business cases and ensure governance alignment.
-Escalate unresolved policy issues for further investigation and resolution.
Requirements
–Experience: 2โ5 years of experience in a compliance-related role (insurance/financial services industry experience is advantageous).
–Education: Relevant qualification in law, compliance, or finance-related discipline.
