Overview:
TB HIV Care (THC), an internationally recognised non-profit organisation established in 1929, is seeking a dedicated Data Capturer / Driver to join its Ethekwini team. THC provides vital healthcare services across South Africa, focusing on HIV and TB prevention and care, especially for high-risk communities. This role offers a stimulating work environment within a dynamic team committed to connecting people with care.
The successful candidate will assist with transportation of outreach teams, support community-based tracing efforts, and perform data capturing and general administrative duties. A strong understanding of health-related data systems and a responsible driving record are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
-Transport outreach teams for client contact tracing and community visits, ensuring compliance with all road safety and traffic regulations.
-Conduct vehicle inspections, report maintenance issues, and coordinate vehicle servicing.
-Maintain transportation logs and submit petrol slips promptly.
-Assist with event logistics and delivery of health commodities.
-Support patient education and ensure informed consent is obtained.
-Accurately capture patient information and verify data against source documents.
-Submit basic reports (weekly, monthly, ad hoc) in a timely manner.
-Follow up and trace clients lost to follow-up (LTFU) and link them back into care.
-Collaborate with outreach teams in tracing TB contacts and linking clients to services.
-Attend and facilitate training sessions, briefings, and staff meetings as required.
-Represent the organisation professionally in all community engagements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Tertiary qualification (advantageous)
- At least 2 years’ experience in:
- Data capturing and reporting
- Electronic database management (TIER.net, DHIS advantageous)
- Driving (including transporting teams)
- Valid South African Code 10 driver’s licence with Professional Driver Permit (PDP)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages
- Experience in community outreach and/or TB & HIV settings
- Willingness to travel and work after hours
- Familiarity with key populations, particularly People Who Use Drugs (PWUD), is beneficial
