Introduction
Swift Worldwide Logistics is seeking a reliable and experienced Delivery Driver to support our high-performance transport network across the Greater Johannesburg region. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe, accurate, and timely collection and delivery of cargo while upholding Swiftโs service standards and professional brand image.
This role is essential to maintaining smooth daily operations and delivering exceptional service to our clients.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Daily Collection & Delivery
-Collect and deliver cargo to warehouses, depots, airline terminals, and client sites.
-Complete PODs, manifests, waybills, and all documentation accurately.
-Verify cargo counts, seals, and condition during each handover.
-Report route delays, risks, or delivery challenges immediately.
2. Vehicle Operation & Maintenance
-Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
-Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure roadworthiness at all times.
-Report defects, maintenance needs, and service intervals to the Transport Controller.
-Follow Swift policies on fuel usage, idling, safety, and vehicle security.
3. Safety & Compliance
-Operate in line with Swift HSSE guidelines, ISO 45001, and SA road regulations.
-Adhere to safety procedures at all client and warehouse sites.
-Handle fragile, high-value, or hazardous cargo within licence limitations.
-Wear full PPE where required.
4. Client Service & Professional Conduct
-Deliver exceptional customer service during all interactions.
-Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and problem-solving ability.
-Escalate any client concerns, discrepancies, or unusual cargo issues promptly.
5. Internal Communication & Reporting
-Provide regular updates to the Transport Controller.
-Capture PODs and delivery notes promptly.
-Assist with basic warehouse tasks (loading, sorting, scanning) when required.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Code 10 driverโs licence (Code 14 advantageous)
- Valid PDP
- Minimum 2 years driving experience in courier, freight, or logistics
- Clean driving record
- Ability to read PODs, manifests, and delivery instructions accurately
- Strong knowledge of the Johannesburg road network
- Physically fit โ able to lift/move cargo safely
Preferred Experience
- Airfreight, general freight, or bonded cargo handling
- Use of scanners, delivery apps, or tracking systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with dispatch and clients
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong safety awareness
- Ability to stay calm and adapt under pressure
