Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for experienced and customer-focused Cashiers to join the team. The successful candidate will support customers at the point of sale and ensure a professional shopping experience while maintaining high standards of accuracy and security in processing transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service in accordance with Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers
- Process purchases and returns efficiently and accurately using the Dis-Chem operating system
- Handle all payment methods, including cash, cards, vouchers, and loyalty program points
- Maintain cash drawer balances and ensure money is handled securely
- Monitor and report suspicious behavior or risks to store management
- Keep up-to-date with current promotions and store offerings
- Adhere to all security, safety, and operational procedures
- Ensure only authorised use of employee codes and passwords
- Assist with queries and product exchanges, where applicable
- Comply with the 5-star communication and customer engagement standards
Requirements and Skills:
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations will be an added advantage.
- Basic customer service knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Good numerical ability
- Strong English language skills (spoken and written)
- Willing and able to work flexible retail hours
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Reliable, trustworthy, and professional
Advantageous:
- Ability to speak a third language
- Previous experience in a retail pharmacy or fast-paced retail environment
