Job Description:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cleaner for a fixed-term contract at their Bayside Mall store in Table View. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in accordance with Dis-Chem’s high hygienic standards. Cleaning areas will include the store floor, stock room, dispensary, admin office, and canteen.

Minimum Requirements:

Essential:

• Grade 10/11/12/Matric
• At least 6 months of cleaning experience
• Proficiency in English
• Basic customer service skills
• Knowledge of an additional language specific to the area
• Willingness to work retail hours

Advantageous:

• Bilingual
• Previous experience cleaning in a retail store setting

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the store, shop floor, and communal areas before opening.
• Establish cleaning routines to ensure all store areas remain spotless.
• Keep the canteen and restrooms clean and fully stocked.
• Be available during operational hours to clean up as needed.
• Use appropriate cleaning products and equipment for specific tasks.
• Display “wet floor” signs at both ends when cleaning the floor.
• Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor and assist customers as needed.
• Adhere to Health and Safety Regulations while performing duties.

• Prior cleaning experience
• Proficient in English (written and spoken)

• Trustworthy and reliable
• Attention to detail
• Presentable and able to follow instructions
• Effective time management

Advantageous:

• Previous retail store cleaning experience
• Bilingual

Special Conditions of Employment:

• Willing and able to work retail hours
• Physically fit for tasks that involve walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and lifting
• Reliable transportation or residence near the store
• South African citizenship
• Clear credit and criminal record
