Overview:
The Eastern Cape Department of Education is looking for versatile and reliable individuals to fill 10 Driver/Handyman positions. The successful candidates will be responsible for driving duties as well as performing routine maintenance and repair tasks to ensure school facilities are safe, operational, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

-Operate light and medium vehicles for official school duties

-Ensure vehicle logbooks are maintained and vehicle cleanliness is upheld

-Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report mechanical issues

-Perform general handyman duties such as basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor electrical work

-Assist with loading and unloading of goods and materials

-Maintain and repair school infrastructure and furniture

-Manage tools and equipment used for maintenance work

-Support staff with event setup, deliveries, and general operational support

-Adhere to safety regulations while operating tools and vehicles

Requirements and Skills:

-A valid driver’s license (minimum Code 10 recommended)

-Grade 9 or higher academic qualification

-Basic experience in building maintenance, repairs, or construction

-Good mechanical aptitude and general handyman knowledge

-Must be physically fit, responsible, and safety-conscious

-Basic recordkeeping skills and ability to follow verbal/written instructions

-Professionalism, reliability, and willingness to work flexible hours if needed

-Preference will be given to local candidates with both driving and maintenance experience
