Overview

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment invites applications from unemployed South African youth for an entry-level Administration Clerk position in Travel Administration. This role is ideal for individuals with Grade 12 and an interest in building a career in the public service.


Key Responsibilities

-Administer fruitless and wasteful expenditure, including managing records of no-shows and late cancellations

-Compile and distribute weekly lists of no-shows to relevant Deputy Director-Generals (DDGs)

-Verify travel and accommodation payments and maintain accurate documentation

-Reconcile payment advice (BAS) with supplier statements

-Submit invoices to the appropriate supervisor and assist with financial reports

-Compile and consolidate weekly/monthly reports on travel-related expenditures

-Assist in the reconciliation of reports between Finance and Determination Committees


Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric certificate (compulsory)

No prior experience required

-A post-matric qualification at NQF Level 5 or higher is advantageous


Skills and Knowledge

-Basic understanding of administrative and clerical procedures

-Familiarity with BAS (Basic Accounting System) and LOGIS (Logistical Information System)

-Knowledge of financial and procurement policies and procedures

-Understanding of relevant departmental prescripts and government protocols

-Good communication and attention to detail
