Job Opportunity: Tractor Driver Positions (x72) – Various Agricultural Sites in Mpumalanga

Location: Bohlabela, Ehlanzeni, Gert Sibande, and Nkangala Districts
Overview:
The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA) is hiring 72 Tractor Drivers as part of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). These roles offer temporary work opportunities to unemployed individuals, including youth, women, and persons with disabilities. The positions aim to support government agricultural programmes across Mpumalanga Province by providing mechanised farming assistance to communal and smallholder farming operations.
Successful candidates will be stationed at various departmental farms and mechanisation units to operate tractors and support field production activities.
Workstation Locations Include:
- Bohlabela District: Thulamahashe Mechanisation Centre, Bushbuckridge Rural Areas
- Nkangala District: KwaMhlanga Mechanisation Centre, Kwamhlanga FTC
- Gert Sibande District: Ermelo Mechanisation Centre, Gert Sibande Mechanisation Units
- Ehlanzeni District: Marapyane FTC, Boschrand Farm
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain tractors and related farm implements.
- Assist in land preparation, planting, weeding, spraying, and harvesting.
- Conduct daily checks and basic servicing of assigned equipment.
- Transport agricultural produce, tools, and inputs when required.
- Comply with safety protocols and proper handling of machinery.
- Maintain tractor logbooks and report faults or incidents promptly.
Requirements and Skills:
- Minimum Qualification: Grade 10.
- Mandatory Requirements:
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s License.
- 1–2 years experience in tractor driving or farm machinery operation.
- Skills:
- Ability to operate a range of farm implements (disc ploughs, planters, trailers, etc.).
- Understanding of agricultural practices and safety procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to detect faults.
- Ability to work long hours in the field and under supervision.
