Overview

SANParks seeks a suitably qualified Field Assistant to support project planning, contractor management, and land rehabilitation initiatives within Namaqua National Park. The role is contract-based and requires the incumbent to reside outside the park and secure their own accommodation. This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on rehabilitation experience and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and community-focused programme delivery (EPWP).

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with project-related planning, scheduling, and task coordination.
• Support the management, mentoring, and performance of EPWP contracting teams.
• Monitor production, quality, and task-based outputs; ensure compliance with programme standards.
• Enforce Health & Safety requirements and contribute to a safe working environment.
• Assist with mapping and data capture/recording for project activities.
• Compile progress updates and reports for internal stakeholders.
• Communicate and liaise with stakeholders as required.

Requirements & Skills

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
• Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with contracting teams and/or personnel management.
• Demonstrated experience in Health & Safety management and compliance.
• Essential: Proven experience in soil/land rehabilitation techniques.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in teams.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Remuneration & Contract

• Salary Band: B4.
• Monthly Remuneration: R12,414.41.
• Housing Allowance: R2,559.55 per month.
• Residency: Incumbent must reside outside the park and arrange own accommodation.
• Contract End Date: 31 March 2027 (subject to renewal by mutual agreement).
