Job Opportunity
Exxaro Resources is inviting applications for two (2) General Worker positions at its Coastal Coal operations in Durnacol, KwaZulu-Natal. This permanent opportunity is ideal for safety-conscious individuals who are eager to contribute to environmental rehabilitation, operational excellence, and community upliftment.
In this role, you will support a range of operational and environmental tasks, working in a team-oriented environment that values accountability, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 / Standard 8
- AET Level 4
- Relevant job-specific experience (0โ6 months)
- Psychometric assessment
- Valid Certificate of Fitness
- Ability to comply with safety regulations and operating procedures
- Ability to identify, rectify, and report unsafe practices and hazardous conditions
- Experience in operating and maintaining equipment
- Proficiency in using and repairing small tools and brush cutters
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
- Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Comply with all safety regulations and promote a healthy and safe working environment at all times, including wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Assist with environmental rehabilitation of mined areas by filling cracks, planting grass, and removing weeds
- Conduct pre-use inspections and routine maintenance checks on equipment, reporting defects or unsafe conditions
- Operate and maintain small tools and brush cutters in line with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines
- Perform waste removal and cleaning tasks to prevent blockages and ensure equipment efficiency
- Support supervisors and foremen with operational activities and communicate issues effectively
- Identify and correct unsafe practices, reporting hazards promptly to ensure workplace safety
- Carry out general support duties across different sections as instructed
- Participate in operational inspections and ensure compliance with loading and transport procedures
- Contribute to continuous improvement through teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving
