Overview

Pick n Pay is recruiting over 20 attentive and customer-oriented General Workers for our Fruit & Veg Departments across South Africa. This role ensures the freshness, presentation, and quality of produce while assisting customers in a vibrant and fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

-Unpack, display, and rotate fresh produce according to FIFO standards

-Check produce quality and remove items that are expired or damaged

-Maintain clean and hygienic produce sections, including display bins and storage areas

-Monitor cold chain integrity for chilled fruits and vegetables

-Ensure correct pricing, labels, and promotional signage is displayed

-Assist with packing, trimming, and preparation of produce for sale

-Interact with customers and provide assistance in locating or selecting produce

-Comply with food safety, hygiene, and health protocols

-Prevent shrinkage and wastage through careful handling and monitoring

Minimum Requirements

-Grade 10 (Grade 12 advantageous)

-Physically fit and able to lift produce crates

-Willingness to work retail shifts, including weekends and public holidays

-Previous produce or food handling experience is beneficial

-Comfortable working in cold or humid environments when required
