Overview

Government departments are recruiting dependable Cleaners to maintain hygienic, safe and welcoming facilities for staff and the public. Roles cover routine cleaning of offices, clinics, hospitals and shared spaces, with strict adherence to health, safety and infection-prevention standards.

Key Responsibilities

-Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust and wipe all assigned areas to prescribed standards.

-Clean and sanitise ablutions, kitchens, offices, board/meeting rooms and high-touch surfaces.

-Empty bins, remove refuse/recyclables, and keep corridors, stairs, entrances and lobbies tidy.

-Clean windows/mirrors/glass; spot-clean stains and spills promptly; operate basic cleaning equipment.

-Safely use/store chemicals and equipment; set out signage (e.g., wet-floor).

-Follow daily/weekly schedules, complete basic checklists, report defects and hazards.

-Support stock control of consumables and assist with venue set-ups when required.

Minimum Requirements

-Basic literacy and numeracy (minimum ABET/NQF Level 2 or Grade 9; some posts accept ABET Level 4/Grade 10; see listings).

-Physical fitness to lift/move equipment and perform manual tasks.

-Good communication and teamwork; reliability and attention to detail.

-Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, tools, chemicals and PPE (advantageous).

-Availability for shifts/weekends/public holidays as operationally required.
