Overview

Impala Bafokeng is seeking a skilled TM3 LHD Operator to join the Mining Department in Rustenburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) equipment to load and transport broken ore in an underground mining environment. This position requires adherence to safety protocols, effective communication, and the ability to perform key mining operations using specialized machinery.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections of mobile equipment to identify and report defects.
  • Operate LHD machinery following approved tramming and loading procedures.
  • Perform proper machine appreciation and routine brake testing.
  • Maintain safe and effective roadway conditions and follow decline/incline parking protocols.
  • Execute proper loading and dumping techniques, including dump truck loading.
  • Maintain work area housekeeping to support safe and productive operations.
  • Assist in the installation of services and towing operations as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and engineering teams to report issues or receive instructions.
  • Apply blasting assistant techniques when required.
  • Uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with operational procedures at all times.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 10 / NQF Level 2 with a valid LHD Operator license (Essential)
  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 with LHD Operator license (Advantageous)
  • Completion of a 4–6 month LHD operator training module (Essential)
  • Rehabilitation Fitness Assessment Certificate (RFAC) and Heat Tolerance Screening (HTS)
  • VTS (Dover) Testing with suitable grading

Competencies and Skills:

  • Roadway maintenance and construction
  • Machine and tyre appreciation
  • Competent B certification
  • Knowledge of tramming procedures and loading techniques
  • Blasting assistance
  • Understanding of towing procedures and safe parking practices
