About the role

ICCVs monitor conditions in correctional centres and safeguard inmate rights. Youโ€™ll work with the Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) to investigate complaints, support inspections, and report on safety, treatment, and living conditions.

Package

  • Annual salary: R85,620 (Level 05 โ€“ 3/8th)
  • Plus: 37% cash in lieu of benefits

Minimum requirements

-Grade 12 / Senior Certificate (Matric)

-Basic computer skills & accurate report handling

-Community organisation nomination/recommendation letter (โ‰ค 6 months old)

-Strong written & verbal communication

-Able to work independently and in a team; assertive; handles pressure

-Understanding of Batho Pele principles

Driverโ€™s licence advantageous

-Preference to applicants living near the centre applied for

What youโ€™ll do

-Visit assigned centres daily; engage with inmates and officials

-Record, track and report inmate complaints & serious incidents (deaths, segregation, use of force)

-Compile accurate condition/treatment reports for JICS

-Support inspections/investigations; perform admin (data capture, registers, correspondence)
