Overview

Kumba Iron Ore, a leading supplier of high-grade iron ore essential for the global steel industry, is seeking a dedicated Clerk to join the Engineering & Maintenance team in Kathu. The successful candidate will provide essential administrative support, ensuring smooth coordination of daily operations, compliance with documentation standards, and accurate reporting. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals at entry level looking to grow within a dynamic mining environment. The role reports to the Planning Advisor and is classified at Band A5 level.


Responsibilities

Safety and Health

  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Promote good housekeeping to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

Administrative Support

-Manage general office duties, including diary coordination and order processing.

-Capture SAP Work Order (WO) feedback as per operational guidelines.

-Record and distribute minutes during section meetings.

-Administer and track timesheets and time-related documents.

-Issue incentive vouchers to employees upon reaching safety milestones.

Document Control

  • Handle and manage documents in compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain structured filing systems according to document control standards.

Operational Assistance

  • Support the team with tasks as directed by the supervisor.
  • Assist in achieving functional objectives through administrative coordination.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 / N3 Technical qualification
  • Valid Code B South African Driver’s License

Experience:

  • 2 to 3 years of relevant administrative experience

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of industry-specific safety regulations and compliance
  • Basic understanding of vehicle and equipment components and functions
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals
  • Familiarity with manufacturer standards for equipment maintenance
  • Understanding of company-specific administrative and operational procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office, SAP, and SORD systems
