1. Apprenticeship (Mechanical / Avionics) X8 โ€“ Permanent

Overview: A 24-month structured apprenticeship programme to develop future Mechanical and Avionics Technicians within FlySafair. Successful candidates will gain on-the-job training under experienced mentors.

Responsibilities: Assist technicians with maintenance and repairs on various aircraft; operate ground support equipment; participate in documentation processes; maintain tools and work areas; adhere to safety standards and PPE requirements.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Essential)
  • Recognised theoretical Aviation qualification (Mechanical/Avionics) (Essential)
  • Basic MS Office skills
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

2. Graduate Intern X10 โ€“ 12-Month Contract

Overview: Internship programme for graduates in different disciplines including Marketing, HR, Psychometry, Procurement, Safety, IT, Asset Management, and Operations. Interns will gain hands-on experience in aviation.

Responsibilities: Provide admin and operational support; assist in research; participate in projects; prepare reports; maintain compliance with company policies.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 + relevant Diploma/Degree (Essential)
  • MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
  • Learning-oriented, professional, and customer service driven

3. Junior First Officer X5 โ€“ Permanent

Overview: Support Captains in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant flight operations. Junior First Officers will perform operational duties, assist with navigation, and uphold safety protocols.

Responsibilities: Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks; monitor flight path and systems; assist Captain with operational decisions; maintain compliance with SACAA and ICAO regulations; submit flight documentation; assume command if Captain incapacitated.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Essential)
  • SACAA Commercial Pilot Licence + Class 1 Medical (Essential)
  • Minimum 1000 flying hours (including turbine/jet hours per requirement)
  • Boeing/Airbus type rating advantageous
  • SA Citizen with valid RSA Passport & Driverโ€™s Licence
  • Willingness to work irregular hours

4. Cadet (Level 1) X7 โ€“ Permanent

Overview: Comprehensive cadet training programme designed to develop graduates into future First Officers through ground school, simulator, and flight instruction.

Responsibilities: Participate in full cadet training; develop aviation knowledge and flying skills; maintain accurate training records; uphold discipline and safety standards; progress to First Officer status in line with FlySafairโ€™s training requirements.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Essential)
  • Valid Commercial Pilot Licence + Multi Engine Instrument Rating (Essential)
  • Valid Class 1 Medical
  • Minimum 200 total flying hours (including 10 Multi-Engine PIC hours)
  • SA Citizen, no criminal record, valid RSA Passport
  • Willing to sign a 7-year Training Bond

5. Senior Manager: HR & Corporate Services โ€“ Permanent

Overview: Lead the HR & Corporate Services division, overseeing HR policies, recruitment, employee relations, payroll, and compliance to ensure alignment with FlySafairโ€™s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and governance frameworks
  • Oversee payroll, HR systems, and workforce planning
  • Lead recruitment and talent acquisition initiatives
  • Advise on labour law, ER matters, and union relations
  • Build HR analytics and reporting dashboards for decision-making
  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and employee wellbeing initiatives

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 + BCom in HR/Industrial Psychology (Essential)
  • Honours in HR/Business Leadership (Essential); Masterโ€™s advantageous
  • 10โ€“12 yearsโ€™ HR experience (5 in management)
  • HR systems, process automation, and analytics experience (Essential)
  • Aviation industry experience advantageous
  • Knowledge of BCEA, EEA, Skills Development, Employment Equity legislation
  • Strong HR technology and Sage People 300 skills
