Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has offered a positive update on the availability of Lebohang Maboe, the club’s exciting new signing.

The versatile midfielder joined Amakhosi on a free transfer after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season, becoming the tenth addition to the squad during this transfer window. Despite his arrival, the 30-year-old is yet to make his much-anticipated debut in the famous gold and black colours.

Maboe’s Road to Fitness

Nabi revealed that Maboe is currently working closely with the fitness coach to regain full match sharpness. The coach reassured fans that the midfielder’s debut is on the horizon.

“I think I have to say congratulations to the board, they did a very good job, they are smart with how they made the agreement [with Maboe],” said Nabi, with assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef translating from French.

“Maboe is an intelligent player, and we need his quality, we need him. He has a lot of experience and is coming to help us with that experience from Sundowns.”

The coach added that once Maboe’s conditioning is up to standard, he will be ready to contribute on the pitch.

More New Signings to Watch

Maboe is not the only newcomer yet to feature this season. Nabi confirmed that several other signings, including Ethan Chislett, Etiosa Ighodaro, Asanele Velebayi, and Luke Baartman, are also preparing to integrate fully into the squad.

“We also have a lot of players who are yet to get a chance to help the team,” Nabi said. “They are working hard, and in due time, everyone will get their opportunity to contribute.”

Looking Ahead

As Chiefs look to build momentum in the DStv Premiership, the imminent availability of Maboe and other new faces could give the team a vital boost. With Nabi’s tactical approach starting to take shape, fans can expect a deeper squad rotation in the coming fixtures.
